Support Surfaces Webcast Now Available On Demand

The Wounds International webcast Real-world solutions for pressure ulcer prevention: Optimising the role of support surfaces is now available to view on demand.

This recent webcast event focused on the important role of support surfaces in global efforts to reduce pressure ulcer incidence.

Since most pressure ulcers are preventable, and resources are becoming more constrained, greater demands are being placed on practitioners to implement strategies that reduce incidence. Support surfaces play an essential role in prevention. However, the huge range available – as well as the lack of objective means to quantify efficacy of individual surfaces – makes selection difficult and can delay getting the right surface to the right patient at the right time. Innovation can provide solutions to these challenges.

In this webcast, Professor Keith Harding is joined by Professor Dan Bader, Professor of Bio-engineering and Tissue Health at Southampton University in the UK. Dan is one of the leading researchers in his field and is widely published on the topic. In addition, Sian Fumarola, a Tissue Viability Nurse, discusses her work in a busy acute hospital in the UK, which has led to significant improvements in pressure ulcer care.
