Lap-Belt

The Lap-Belt works in conjunction with seating to maintain the posture of those individuals that need extra pelvic support. The belt helps to retain the position of the pelvis to prevent inappropriate rotation, sliding or movement.

The Lap-Belt helps stabilise the pelvis and position the occupant in the back of the chair to achieve a good sitting posture and reduce the risk of tissue damage through the effects of shear, which can occur if the occupant has an unstable posture.

Simple to fit and easy to adjust, the Lap-Belt provides assurance to the carer and reduces the risk of injury for the user.

The Lap-Belt is suitable for the following uses:

  • Protection against injury
  • Providing a sense of security
  • For those who have a tendency to lean when seated
  • For use with the majority of Kirton specialist seating

The Lap-Belt is not suitable for the following users:

  • Users with thrusts, spasms and strong movements (unless specified following clinical assessment)
  • Users who are likely to slide down in the chair

The Lap-Belt is fitted to the chair using a D-ring fixing. The D-rings can be retrospectively fitted to some chairs, please contact our Customer Service department on 0800 043 0881 to confirm whether your chair is suitable for this product.

Trays

Universal Mobile Tray

The Universal Mobile Tray is a free-standing design that sits astride the chair. If a person wishes to get out of the chair, the tray can simply be pushed forward and away.

It is highly mobile, on 40mm twin wheel castors with a height adjustment between 630mm and 900mm. It is suitable for most specialist seats, as long as the overall width of the chair is not greater than 725mm.

The Universal Mobile Tray allows for an extending legrest beneath the table top, where applicable.

Laminated Tray

Designed for use with the Regent and Stirling chairs, though may be used with other chairs in the specialist seating range, the laminated tray has velcro straps to secure the tray into position. It can be easily fixed into position on the chair with the straps while the user is in the sitting position. The tray weighs 2kg.
